When can I join the Standard Course?
The Standard Course runs throughout the academic year. Students can join the Standard Course on any Monday. You can attend as long as you need. This is because each course is divided into weekly units making it possible for you to attend a section of a course.

What are the advantages of the Standard Course?
Our Standard Course is designed for students who want a thorough, full-time English course but would like to be free in the afternoon. The school is situated in the very centre of Cambridge, just a few seconds from Market Square and King's College. The Standard Course is perfect for students who want to spend their afternoons following their own interests, whether it is visiting the nearby University buildings, shopping or sitting in a café, visiting the many museums or playing sports with friends.

If I take the Standard Course, can I work in the afternoon?
Of course you can. Many of our students have part-time jobs and the timetable for the Standard Course fits into that perfectly. The school can offer students on the Standard Course part-time work in various Cambridge University Colleges.

What levels of English are taught on the Standard Course?
The school offers Standard Course lessons at all levels from Elementary to Advanced. However, there are no courses for complete beginners. Complete beginners should consider having individual tuition to teach them enough English to enter the Elementary class.

How will you know what class to put me in?
At the very beginning of your course, your level of English will be assessed thoroughly and you will be placed in the appropriate class for your level.

Can I take English exams on the Standard Course?
Although you can enrol to take English exams on the Standard Course, we advise students wishing to study for exams to take the Intensive Course which offer specific lessons on exam preparation.

Are there any afternoon activities offered on the Standard Course?
Afternoon activities are designed to fit in with our students' lives. During the academic year, many of our students live and work independently in Cambridge and so do not require a hectic social programme in school. On Wednesday afternoons during the academic year, the school offers an afternoon activity which is completely optional. These are typically topics such as Shakespeare and the British Parliamentary System, as well as talks about the Fitzwilliam Museum, King's College Chapel and the famous Colleges. The school occasionally offers evening activities.
